Barbara Lee Dutcher

Barbara Lee Dutcher, 70, passed away peacefully on the evening of Sunday April 11, 2021 in Nashville, TN with her family by her side.  Barbara, better known as Barb, Barbie, mom, or grandma fought pancreatic and liver cancer for the better part of this past year.  Barb was born to the late Donald and Louise Morse on April 21, 1950 in Columbus, OH.  Barb graduated from Whetstone High School in 1967 and worked for Columbia Gas for 25 years before enjoying several years at the Curio Cabinet and finally finishing her employment at Kroger.

Barb and Don lived in Columbus, OH for forty-seven years where they raised their family before relocating to Nashville, TN to be close to their grandchildren.  Barb is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Donald Dutcher; son Jason Dutcher (wife: Nikki Dutcher); son Joshua Dutcher (wife: Stephanie Dutcher); sister Jeanne Chiappi (husband Michael); sister Judy Morse; grandchildren Jackson, Jacob, Jaden; a host of caring friends and colleagues.

Barb brought a sense of Joy to whomever she spent time with.  Her smile was genuine and contagious.  She enjoyed spending time outside in the garden with flowers and had a special ability of making any house feel like a home.  Barb had a passion for all animals, but especially rabbits.  She enjoyed painting ceramics and many of those happened to be rabbits, so it is only fitting that her final holiday that she got to spend with her family was Easter.  She was able to paint easter eggs with her grandchildren one final time.  Barb’s final wish was to have her ashes placed in her happy place, which happens to be under a palm tree on a beach in Maui.

There will be a celebration of Barb’s life held on Saturday, April 17, 2021 from 12:00pm to 4:00pm with special remembrances at 2:00pm.  The location for Barb’s celebration will take place at the Whetstone Park of Roses Open Air Shelter House Number 1.

The family insists that instead of flowers, which Barb loves, that a donation be made to the Clover Patch Sanctuary, which is a charity for rescuing rabbits and other small animals.  Below is a link to a site in which you can make a donation in Barb’s honor.
