George Junior Lee was born on November 6th, 1932 to Wilbert Lee and Elizabeth Boyette. He was raised by his Aunt and Uncle, Allie and Frank Boyette. George departed this life on January 21st, 2023 at his residence in Clarksville, Tennessee. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Glenda Miller, Sharon Williams; one brother, James Lee; three sisters, Kitich Deaver, Helen Cooper, Lizzie Cooley; two grandsons, Eric Stokes and Joseph Williams. He is survived by his loving wife Shirley Lee; two daughters, Amanda Lee, Jacqueline Stokes.
George enlisted in the Marines in 1951. He was then enlisted in the Army from 1956 to 1972. He was a Veteran of the Korean conflict Era, from December 6th, 1951 to December 5th, 1953. He also served in the Army from December 12th, 1953 to September 30th, 1972 for the Vietnam conflict.
In 1967, he married his wife, Shirley (Henderson), and retired from Fort Hood, Tx in 1972. After retirement, George was the first African American car salesman for Wyatt Johnson car dealership, and was a Charter member of the Clarksville Roadrunner motorcycle club. Additionally, he worked at State Stove, and then retired from the Post Office as a postal carrier in Nashville, TN (Nolensville Road and Trinity Lane routes).
A Celebration of Life Memorial service will be held on February 10, 2023 beginning at 11 AM at Freedom Point at Liberty Park, 250 Marina Way, Clarksville, TN, 37040. Inurnment will immediately follow at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 7931 McCrory Lane, Nashville, TN, 37221 with military honors.
