Grace Alexandra Ponce of Nashville passed away on the morning of Wednesday, October 26, 2022. She was 17 years old. Grace is survived by her mother, Rosie; father, Israel; sister, Faith; grandmother, Lucinda; and stepfather, Tony.
Grace was the Senior Class Vice-President at Nashville Big Picture High School, a member of the Hispanic Achievers club and Stitches club, an honor roll student, and dual enrolled at Nashville State Community College.
During her four years of high school, Grace participated in three internship programs. During her first two years of High School, she interned with the Nashville Parthenon in the Educational Archives program, where she researched and wrote museum programs such as “Athena & Arachne,” assisted with STEAM Expeditions, and aided with field trips for 2,500 MNPS 6th graders, helping them learn to do the “Architecture Challenge.” Grace then interned with the Croft Middle School Zoology department, using her previously earned American Red Cross Cat & Dog First Aid certification and teaching it to middle school students. Grace’s final internship was at the Tennessee State University College of Agriculture’s Animal Biotechnology Lab, assisting with animal research. Grace embraced her passion for animals and aspired to enter veterinary school upon graduation from high school.
Grace enjoyed attending concerts, hockey games, photography, and baking. Grace will be remembered most for her warmth and compassion. Her daily hugs, wishes of a good day, stories at dinner, and “good nights” before bed will remain in our hearts. Grace’s purity of heart and innocent and forgiving nature blessed those around her with the true gift of unconditional love. While our hearts mourn for her loss, our lives are fuller for having had her here, even if it was for such a short time.
In honor of her memory, the family requests donations are made in Grace’s name to the Nashville Humane Association – https://give.nashvillehumane.org/give/241612/#!/donation/checkout
