Rowan Basil LaBarre, a proud US Army Veteran, father, and husband passed away in his Clarksville, TN home on August 18, 2021 at the age of 80.
Rowan is survived by his spouse, Jung Suk, his three children, Stephanie, Jeffrey and Eric. He is also survived by his 4 siblings and 4 grandchildren.
Rowan was born in Phillipsburg, NJ, a son of the late Raymond L and Esther LaBarre. He proudly served in the US Army for 21 years and was honorably discharged. He retired as a Sergeant Major. He was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division and served in Korea and Vietnam. Rowan met his wife during a tour in Korea. They were married on October 25, 1979 and they remained married until his death for 42 years. They had one son together, Eric.
Rowan was a devoted father, husband, and nature aficionado. He loved to spend his time feeding the wildlife in his backyard which included birds, squirrels, chipmunks, and other animals that frequented his home. Rowan was a good man that always did more than was asked from him. He took time to clean up his neighborhood, banter with neighbors, and always looked to bring about a positive impact on those who he met. He served as an inspiration in terms of how to treat others. He was always willing to give without any expectation of anything in return. He enjoyed spending time with family playing board games such as Scrabble, Parcheesi, Dominoes and many other games. He also had a deep love of music and spent many hours listening and enjoying a wide range of artists and genres.
A service will be held on August 30, 2021 at the Veterans KY cemetery West at 1 pm CT. This will include a military tribute/sendoff.
